Strength & Stability: Bench Legs (40cm)

Guidance on ensuring a tall tables are safe, with a rock-solid, high-quality feel

At The Hairpin Leg Co., we do not specify absolute weight ratings for our products. This approach is deliberate; the capacity for weight support significantly varies depending on the design and construction of your overall project, and the weight an individual table leg can support is mostly irrelevant.

Furthermore, we believe in prioritising the stability and quality-feel of your project.

When considering bench capacities, the most critical factor to account for is the weight of individuals who will use the bench. Typically, the upper limit for an average human weight is assumed to be 80 kg. Below, recommendations are provided based on the bench size.

6 - 8 Adults

When designing a 6 - 8 person bench, spanning 180 - 240cm, strength of the top is as critical as strength of the legs. To that end, we suggest building benches of this size with a full frame design.

4 - 5 Adults

The majority of our bench legs will support up to 5 adults, unless listed in the 1 - 3 Adult section below.
