Building Long Tables

Will your legs work?

We often get asked will our legs support a long table or bench (2 meters +).

The legs themselves will not have an impact on how long your table can be. If the total weight is within the limits set out in our weight guide then you're good to go from the perspective of the legs alone.

However, on long tables you will need to consider the structure of the material you are using and whether this will be strong enough to take the weight and not sag over time.

Sagging / bending tables

So you have finished your table and it didn't turn out quite as expected, maybe sagging in the middle or not feeling quite as stiff as you had hoped. Here are some options to get it fixed up!

Add Bracing

pageHow to Add Bracing to a Table Top

Buy a self-supporting frame.

A product like our Box Frame Table Legs will ensure a rock-solid table with little DIY effort. The frame bolts together into a rigid, self-supporting base and allows you to fit both extremely heavy (stone, very thick solid woods) and also thin/weak (i.e. MDF), non-structural (i.e. composites) or hard to fit (i.e. marble or glass) tops with ease.

Add Extra Legs

You can fix some extra legs to the table but this does not look so clean. We don't sell spare legs so you would need to buy another set for this option.
